At Mills Church, we believe that loving our neighbors includes making space for them to thrive.
Love Makes Room is a ministry initiative focused on responding to the need for affordable housing in our community.
Through prayer, conversation, and collaboration with local partners, Mills Church is seeking ways to use our property and resources to serve families in need and contribute to a more just and compassionate community.
Our Journey
In 2018, Mills Church began exploring how our church property could be used to address the growing need for affordable housing in Minnetonka and surrounding communities.
This exploration led to:
Community conversations and city-led neighborhood meetings in 2020
A partnership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity in 2021
The launch of LoveMakesRoom.org in 2022
These steps represent our desire to live out our faith in tangible ways that reflect God’s heart for justice, compassion, and community.
What Is Happening Now
Today, the vision is becoming reality.
Construction has begun on one single-family home in partnership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
Mills Church is also exploring plans to develop the south end of our property and parking lot.
This project could potentially provide up to twelve additional homes for families in our community.
This initiative reflects our commitment to love our neighbors not only in words but in meaningful, practical action.
